Tech Torque’s Next Chapter
About 18 months ago, my family and I took a holiday through North America. We visited LA for Disneyland, Texas for the BBQ, Quebec for the snow, and finally, New York City.
It reminded me why we work so hard: to experience life to the fullest.
There isn’t much evidence that we get two chances at this life, so we may as well make this one count.
“One Day…”
I remember walking the streets of New York with my family and saying, “One day, I’d like to live here.”
But deep down, I had a fear: what if one day never comes?
That same week, a friend invited us to visit Princeton, New Jersey. It’s a small town famous for its university, with a great community, excellent schools, and a safe environment, just an hour from NYC.
Suddenly, the idea went from a casual comment to something that could actually happen.
From Dreamer to Doer
We didn’t just leap into it.
We thought it through, made plans, and made sure our teenage boys were on board.
(Turns out we’ve raised kids just like us – risk-takers who are ready for adventure and happy to give things a shot.)
But, it still didn’t feel real until I started talking about it.
Connor Magreggor famously talked about having the courage to speak things into existence.
And once I put it out there, the action followed.
Terri – my wife, the organisational mastermind behind our businesses, and our family – got to work with attorneys and mapped out how to make it happen.
While I’m the dreamer, she’s the doer who makes the dream real.
The Move
This month, we made the move.
The boys are now enrolled in school.
This weekend, we caught the train to New York for a bit of fun.
The next chapter has begun.
Why This Matters for TechTorque
The last two years have been huge for TechTorque.
Expanding into the U.S. is the natural next step.
Princeton will be our base, with New York City just a short train ride away, and we’re excited about the opportunities ahead.
For me, this isn’t just business.
It’s about living fully, taking chances, and building something bigger and better.
Growth Takes Two Things
If you have a big idea, you need two things: a dreamer and a doer.
You need to talk about it, and then you need to work your butt off to make it happen.
That’s how you create growth, in business and in life.
